Performances
Undergraduate Recognition Recital — 7:30 p.m., Aug. 25, Music Building I. The School of Music recital showcases the school's most outstanding undergraduate performers. Free.
Events
Nittany Block Party — 5:30-11 p.m., Aug. 25, Pollock Road outside of the HUB-Robeson Center. Enjoy student performances, free food and headlining act KYLE. Free.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza ribbon-cutting ceremony — 10 a.m.-noon, Aug. 28, South Fraser Street, State College. The dedication of the new plaza will coincide with the 54th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. first gave his historic "I Have a Dream" speech. Free.
Living In One Neighborhood (LION) Bash — 6-10 p.m., Aug. 29, South Allen Street, State College. The annual community resource fair and block party will feature more than 50 interactive engagement stations where attendees can learn about local organizations and business and win prizes. Free.

Ellen Perry Speaker Series — Noon, Aug. 24, Penn State All-Sports Museum. Lady Lion basketball great and 12-year WNBA veteran will discuss her Penn State experience and time playing for the Lady Lions and for the WNBA's Seattle Storm and New York Liberty. Free.
"We Wear the Mask: Art and Identity Formation in Higher Education" — Noon, Aug. 29, 16 Borland Building. Mark B. Stephens, professor in the College of Medicine, kicks off the 2017-18 Arts and Design Research Incubator lunchtime "Dialogues" series with his discussion on the use of mask making to address identity formation in professional communities. Free.

Summer Flying Legends of Victory Tour — Aug. 28-Sept. 4, University Park Airport. The World War II-era B-17 bomber "Sentimental Journey" will be on display and available for tours and flight.
"100 Years of the Pulitzers: Celebrating Our Humanity" — Dec. 12, 2016-Aug. 30, 2017, Diversity Studies Room, 203 Pattee Library. The exhibit features the works of Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction and nonfiction writers, poets and playwrights who have championed the cause of social equality and democracy and who have significantly impacted American art and culture. Free.
"The Art & History of Bicycles" — June 11-Sept. 7, HUB-Robeson Galleries. Bob Swaim's collection of bicycles takes viewers on a two-wheeled tour of art and history of the common human-powered vehicle. Free.
"Getting My Way and Whining About It" — May 22-Sept. 7, Art Alley, HUB-Robeson Galleries. An exhibition of paintings by Miranda Holmes examines the culpability of human actions. Free.
Art on the Move — May 12-Sept. 17, Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, 209 Old Main. As part of the Art on the Move program, the HUB-Robeson Galleries will display mandalas by Penn State graduate student Fernanda Bonafini, also known as Ataraxiaowl. Free, but appointment recommended.
"SEEP" — Aug. 24-Sept. 30, Woskob Family Gallery, State College. The exhibit presents 11 contemporary artists from across the country whose work engages with water. Free.
"Field to Front: Nittany Lions at War, 1917-1919" — April 23, 2017-April 30, 2018, the Penn State All-Sports Museum. The exhibit chronicles the contributions of Nittany Lion lettermen during World War I and follows their service from training in the U.S. to fighting in France and Italy. Free.
