Tony Savant to visit Penn State Lehigh Valley

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Film Club and Communication Society have joined forces to host Tony Savant, founding director of Philadelphia Playhouse West, to guest speak on campus. The event is free and open to all Penn State Lehigh Valley students, faculty and staff. The event will take place from 12:15-1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, in Room 135 at the campus in Center Valley. No registration is required for this event. Walk-ins are welcome.

Savant is one of the most respected acting teachers in the nation. Savant earned a bachelor’s degree in theater from Penn State and a master’s degree in fine arts from California State University. Savant has been in the acting and teaching profession for nearly 30 years. He has acted in more than 35 stage plays and 15 films, and he has directed more than 70 stage plays and four films. He has written and consulted on a dozen screenplays.

Many famous successful actors and actresses working in film and television have been taught by Savant. The actors and actresses include Ashley Judd, Wentworth Miller, Tessa Thompson, James Franco and hundreds of other famous stars.

He also teaches screen writing, script analysis, film analysis and voice and speech. Attendees will learn the essential fundamental elements of what it is like to be a well-respected acting teacher.
