UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Transportation Services is sharing the following update for Friday, Aug. 18, on campus changes related to the ongoing closure of the Eisenhower Parking Deck resulting from a sinkhole on Eisenhower Road.
Eisenhower Road and Eisenhower Deck remain closed
Eisenhower Road will remain closed to through traffic on Friday, and as a result, the Eisenhower Deck and the adjacent Yellow F surface parking lot also will remain closed.
Until further notice, Yellow F permit holders are asked to park at the West Deck. Free transportation to central campus from the West Deck is available with the Red Link and Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue.
Permit holders from other parking areas who were granted access to Eisenhower Deck this week due to student arrival parking closures are authorized to park at the Nittany Deck through Friday. The closest campus transit stop is near Pattee Library on Curtin Road and is served by the free Blue Loop, Red Link, Campus Shuttle via College Avenue, and Campus Shuttle via Beaver Avenue.

Parking also will be available at the Commuter lots (Stadium West, Jordan East, Porter North and Porter South), though these areas will be congested due to student arrival check-in at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Yellow S parking areas to reopen Friday, Aug. 18, with detour route
Yellow S parking areas will reopen to Yellow S permit holders on Friday. However, as Eisenhower Road remains closed to through traffic, access to the lots will require drivers to use the following detour route until further notice:
- Travel south on Shortlidge Road from Curtin Road or Park Avenue.
- Turn left onto Science Drive (located between Eisenhower Auditorium and the Huck Life Sciences Building).
Vehicles will need to exit the lots by turning right onto Eisenhower Road and right onto Shortlidge Road.
Student parking permit sales
YAS-West Deck student permit sales for off-campus students remain postponed due to the West Deck being used as alternative parking for those who park at the Eisenhower Deck. A limited number of Lot 43 permits remain available for purchase for off-campus students who need overnight storage parking.
Lot 11 (formerly Brown 11) student parking permit sales will take place as scheduled beginning at 10 a.m. Friday. While permit sales for approved first-year students also will take place at noon Friday, Transportation Services is not accepting additional first-year parking requests at this time.
Transportation Services Office closed on Aug. 18
The Transportation Services Office at Eisenhower Deck will remain closed on Friday. Transportation Services staff will be working from other locations and available to answer phone calls (814-865-1436) and emails, though responses may be delayed due to the large volume of calls and emails received during the student arrival period.
