UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – University leaders, deeply concerned about evolving events in Afghanistan, remind any students or employees impacted that there are resources available to help them through this uncertain time.
Student Care and Advocacy and Penn State Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) are eager to help students navigate the challenges this situation presents. Student Care and Advocacy can help connect individuals to various resources that offer a range of support, including supporting students in distress and health and wellness resources. CAPS offers services to address psychological needs and personal concerns of students that may interfere with their academic progress, social development and emotional well-being.
“This is an extremely difficult time for various individuals and it is crucial we are supportive for our community of international students, scholars, staff and faculty,” said Roger Brindley, Vice Provost for Global Programs. “We have many resources available at Penn State. I want all Penn Staters to feel at home and welcome our on campuses and know that the Office of Global Programs is available to assist with personal and academic anxiety or simply to offer a caring place for you to share your concerns. Please remember you are not alone.”
Students are encouraged to reach out to Global Programs staff or through the iStart platform at any time. Students may ask questions, share their concerns and seek advice.
If an immediate need arises or presents itself outside the usual hours of operation for these services, students should not hesitate to seek assistance through the Penn State Crisis Line via CAPS at 1-877-229-6400, or text "LIONS" to 741741.
