HERSHEY, Pa. — Nine Penn State College of Medicine volunteers celebrated Earth Day on Thursday, April 22, by planting 100 native seedlings on the west side of the Hershey Medical Center campus in an area near Meadow Wood Drive. Facilities Department employees assisted the volunteers in planting.

Prior to the tree planting ceremony, volunteers received an overview of the Medical Center’s Facilities Landscape Master Plan and education on how to properly plant the trees.

The event supported Penn State Health’s and the College of Medicine’s sustainability initiatives. Hershey Medical Center participates in the Chesapeake Bay Foundation 10 Million Trees Program and the National Arbor Day Foundation Tree Campus Healthcare Program.
