Welcome Week events planned through Sept. 19

Stretching through mid-September, there is plenty for students to do after convocation

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Numerous events are planned to welcome students back to campus after move-in weekend on Aug. 24. Stretching all the way through mid-September, Welcome Week events have plenty in store to help both new students become engaged with campus life and the State College area, as well as returning students looking to forge new connections.

New students have a number of signature events scheduled for them throughout the first weekend on campus, concluding with Be a Part from the Start at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25 The next signature event — the Involvement Fair — will follow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Here, first-year students can learn about the 1,000-plus student clubs and organizations on campus. An encore presentation of Results Will Vary* — a theater show by students, for students — is also scheduled 9 p.m. Wednesday. 

Signature events are scheduled into September, with Fresh START Day of Service from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 8. Here, students can get involved and make a difference in the local community with service opportunities throughout Happy Valley.

LION (Living in One Neighborhood) Bash will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, where students both new and returning can connect with community organizations in downtown State College on Allen Street from 5-8 p.m. Finally, University Libraries Open House days will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 11 and 12.
