CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — About 50 Penn State engineers visited the Lehigh Valley campus on July 11 to learn about a new engagement group in the Lehigh Valley. The attendees enjoyed light refreshments; networked with faculty, staff and other Penn State engineers; and toured the engineering lab.
“When we learned that there are more than 1,500 Penn State engineers living in the Lehigh Valley, we wanted to provide an outlet for them to connect with their local Penn State campus,” said Tina Q. Richardson, chancellor, Penn State Lehigh Valley.
This event served as the kickoff to a year of free programming for engineering alumni, which will include more social and networking events, career advancement workshops and opportunities to help Penn State Lehigh Valley students.
“We wanted to bring this group together to network, and to bond over our shared love of Penn State!" said Diane McAloon, director of alumni relations, Penn State Lehigh Valley. "We plan to tap their expertise to help mentor our students since about 25 percent of our first-year students have dreams of becoming an engineer.”
