UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Applications are now open for all Penn State campuses, colleges, programs and alumni groups interested in hosting a fundraising campaign during the University’s eighth GivingTuesday celebration.

The event, to be held this year on Tuesday, Nov. 29, highlights the ambitions and achievements of faculty, staff, students and alumni across Penn State and beyond, seeks to raise funds for a variety of initiatives and is one of the University’s most successful annual fundraising efforts. In 2021, for the seventh consecutive year, GivingTuesday broke institutional records for participation and fundraising success by generating more than 10,500 gifts and raising over $1.25 million. Support benefited more than 150 University programs and initiatives, representing at least one initiative at every Penn State college and campus.

Faculty and staff interested in hosting a fundraising campaign this year can apply online before the application closes on Sept. 30, and all approved campaigns will be featured on the University’s GivingTuesday website.

Student and alumni groups also can host GivingTuesday campaigns, and their role in the success of GivingTuesday continues to grow. Last year, 37 of the GivingTuesday fundraising pages were student-run — nearly double the number from the year prior — and these groups raised $88,000 from more than 1,400 donors.

GivingTuesday at Penn State is an opportunity to not only encourage philanthropy but amplify the important role that alumni and friends play in the University community. Questions about the day or the application process should be directed to givingtuesday@psu.edu.

With the record-breaking success of “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence,” which raised $2.2 billion from 2016 to 2022, philanthropy is helping to sustain the University’s tradition of education, research and service to communities across the commonwealth and around the globe. Scholarships enable our institution to open doors and welcome students from every background, support for transformative experiences allows our students and faculty to fulfill their vast potential for leadership, and gifts toward discovery and excellence help us to serve and impact the world we share.
