UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Rushing home after chemistry to play your guitar? Distracted in math because you’re writing poetry? Is “directing a physics play” on your bucket list?

The Eberly College of Science — in partnership with 3 Dots, a community arts center in downtown State College — will host its third annual Pi Day Science Open Mic Night for all those in the Penn State science community who are interested in joining a lighthearted, fun-filled evening of science-themed performances.

Returning after a three-year hiatus, the community event is open to all ages from the Penn State science and surrounding communities. It will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on March 14 at 3 Dots, located at 137 E. Beaver Ave.

The event is open to all types of science-themed performance arts (singing, poetry, dramatic readings, jokes, interpretive dance — you name it!), with limited room for visual art displays. The event will include three “celebrity” judges from the college, as well as prizes, snacks and community science outreach activities.

Open mic participants are asked to sign up in advance for a spot in the performance lineup, but in-person signups also will be accepted as space allows. Performers may be allotted up to 20 minutes each, but that time may be shortened based on the number of participants.
