-- The National Association of Secondary School Principals named Thomas J. Dodds ('15 Ph.D.), principal at Lesher Middle school in Colorado, as National Principal of the Year. Dodd earned his Administrative 1 Certificate (principal's license) in 2004; his Letter of Eligibility (superintendent’s license) in 2005; and his doctorate in educational leadership in 2015, all from Penn State.

-- Richard Ishler ('60 M.Ed., '65 Ed.D.) was awarded the Hans Olsen Distinguished Teacher Educator Award by the Association of Teacher Educators for his contributions to education and teacher preparation. Before retiring, Ishler served as the dean of education at Emporia State University, Texas Tech University and the University of South Carolina. He also was an associate dean at the University of Toledo.
