"Alumni Updates" highlights career achievements by Penn State College of Education alumni.

— Emily Hodge, associate professor of educational leadership at Montclair State University, won the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division L Early Career Award. Hodge received a doctorate in educational theory and policy from the Penn State College of Education's Department of Education Policy Studies. She is co-editor of the American Journal of Education with Dana Mitra, professor of education (educational theory and policy).

— Joshua Surita, a teacher at West Middle School in Reading, Pennsylvania, gave a presentation at the Charles Hughes Invitational Lecture for the College of Education’s Special Education department. Surita shared the impact of his Penn State education on his first seven years of teaching, and how the instructional strategies learned at the University have helped him to engage and enrich the lives of his students.
