"Alumni Updates" highlights career achievements by College of Education alumni.

·      Emily Hodge, an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Montclair State University, is the lead author of an article, "How to respond to community concerns about critical race theory" in Phi Delta Kappan. Hodge received a doctorate in educational theory and policy in 2015 from Penn State.

·      Jason A. Pedersen, a practitioner at the Hershey Early Childhood Center and Hershey Middle School in Hershey, has been honored by the National Association of School Psychologists with one of its most prestigious awards, the 2023 School Psychologist of the Year. Pedersen received a doctorate in school psychology from Penn State in 2002. He is currently one of the Derry Township School District social and emotional learning team leads, a member of the Hershey Elementary and Middle School Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Committee, and a Safe Crisis Management trainer. Pedersen also is a proven leader at the state and national levels, having just completed a term as Pennsylvania’s NASP delegate and a member of NASP’s board of directors.
