"Alumni Updates" highlights career achievements by College of Education alumni.

Emily (Scheinberg) Levine, who received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Penn State in 2004, was selected as the first Junior Achievement's Teacher of the Year from Southwestern Pennsylvania. She currently teaches third grade for Gateway School District in Monroeville, Pennsylvania.

Gillian Hampden-Thompson, who received a doctorate in educational theory and policy from Penn State, will be joining Durham University in the United Kingdom in July as principal of Josephine Butler College and professor in the School of Education. Since 2014, Hampden-Thompson has been at the University of Sussex serving as head of the School of Education and Social Work. Prior to her role at Sussex, she was director of research in the Department of Education at York and from 2004 to 2008, and a research analyst at the American Institutes for Research in Washington, D.C.
