— Elizabeth Tyler Bugaighis, an alumna who graduated with a doctorate in educational theory and policy in 2000, is the dean of Education and Academic Success at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

— Sarah Szymanski, a second-grade teacher at Soaring Eagles Elementary in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and former PDS intern and 2008 graduate of the Penn State College of Education, won Colorado's 2018-19 Milken Educator Award. The award includes an unrestricted $25,000 cash prize. Her PDS mentor at Radio Park Elementary School was Mary Robert, who won the College of Education's Outstanding Teaching Award in 2016.
