— Douglas L. Allen, a 1983 alumnus, has been selected to lead Tidoute Community Charter School in Tidoute, Pennsylvania. A 32-year public education employee, Allen has served as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. While attending Penn State, he focused his dissertation research on the reasons parents choose public or private schools in Pennsylvania.

— Maya Nehme, whose degrees include a doctorate in comparative and international education, is leading an initiative to increase the green cover of Lebanon through a scientific and sustainability-based approach. As head of the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative project, she manages a team that strives daily to improve the situations of forests in Lebanon.

— Larry Nespoli, a 1980 alumnus of the higher education doctoral program, has retired as president of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges, the state-level coordinating organization for New Jersey's community college system. New Jersey's 19 community colleges enroll more than 350,000 students each year, making them the largest provider of higher education in the state.

— The American College Personnel Association recognized Hyun Kyoung Ro as an emerging scholar for 2018. Ro, who graduated in 2011 with a doctorate in higher education administration, is an assistant professor in the Department of Higher Education and Student Affairs at Bowling Green State University.
