"Alumni Updates" highlights career achievements by Penn State College of Education alumni.
- Rebecca West Burns was named dean of the College of Education at Kutztown University, effective Aug. 1. Burns earned her doctorate in curriculum and instruction, emphasis in supervision, from Penn State in 2012. She also earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Penn State. Burns previously was at the University of North Florida, where she served as the Bill Herrold Endowed Professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum and the director of clinical practice and educational partnerships since 2021.
- Chris Gamrat, assistant teaching professor in the Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology, is co-editor of a new book, “The Multi-Disciplinary Instructional Designer Integrating Specialized Skills into Design Toolkits.” Gamrat graduated from the Penn State College of Education in 2010 with a master of education in instructional systems and then again in 2018 with a doctorate in learning, design and technology.
- David A. Tandberg, who earned a doctorate in higher education from Penn State in 2007, was selected as the 12th president of Adams State University. Tandberg has guided Adams State through the last 10 months as interim president. Having been in higher education for nearly 20 years, Tandberg was previously senior vice president for policy research and strategic initiatives for the State Higher Education Executive Officers Associates (SHEEO).
