"Alumni Updates" highlights career achievements by College of Education alumni.
— Salena Babb, assistant teaching professor of education (special education) at Penn State, who received a doctorate in special education from the College of Education, is the lead author of a new article, “Two Friends Spending Time Together: The Impact of Video Visual Scene Displays on Peer Social Interaction for Adolescents With Autism Spectrum Disorder” for the journal Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools. The paper is based on Babb's dissertation research.
— Robert Longwell-Grice, senior adviser for the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (UWM), who received a master’s degree in counseling from Penn State in 1981, has a new book, “At the Intersection: Understanding and Supporting First-Generation Students” published by Stylus. The book was co-authored by his wife, Hope Longwell-Grice, senior associate dean for Academic Affairs: Teaching & Learning at UWM.
— Several alumni participated on a panel sponsored by the College of Education Department of Education Policy Studies at the Education Law Association conference: Social Justice and Education Law. The hybrid panel included alumni Raquel Muñiz (assistant professor at Boston College, Penn State juris doctor/doctoral graduate); Dwayne Kwaysee Wright (assistant professor and director of diversity, equity and inclusive initiatives at George Washington University, Penn State juris doctor/master of education/doctoral graduate); and Steven Nelson (associate professor at University of Memphis, Penn State doctoral graduate).
