Students, staff and faculty members from Penn State's College of Education share recent research and career achievements.
- Janice Byrd, assistant professor of education (counselor education), is quoted in a HuffPost article, “Black Students Are Caught In The Middle Of America's Culture Wars.” In addition, Byrd was awarded the Review of Research Award by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) for an article she co-authored, Understanding Influences of Development on Black Women’s Success in U.S. Colleges: A Synthesis of Literature” in Review of Educational Research.
- Francesca Lopez, Waterbury Chair in Equity Pedagogy and professor of education (second language education), co-authored an op-ed, “Ignoring Racism in Schools Actually Increases Prejudice” in EducationWeek.
- Dana Mitra, professor of education (educational theory and policy) discussed her book, "The Empowered Professor: Breaking the Unspoken Codes of Inequity in Academia” in a recent New Book in Education podcast. Additionally, Mitra was featured in an episode of the Higher Ed Geek Podcast.
- Heather Toomey Zimmerman, professor of education (learning, design, and technology) is lead author of a new paper, “Supporting children’s place-based observations and explanations using collaboration scripts while learning-on-the-move outdoors” in International Society of the Learning Sciences. Her co-author is Susan Land, head of the Department of Learning and Performance Systems and professor of education (learning, design, and technology).
