— "Racialized Identities in Second Language Learning: Speaking Blackness in Brazil," a book written by Uju Anya, assistant professor of education (second language learning) and research affiliate for the Center for the Study of Higher Education, has been awarded the First Book Award by the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL). Anya will receive the award at the AAAL Annual Convention in March.
— Scott Metzger, associate professor of education (secondary social studies), is the lead editor of the Wiley International Handbook of History Teaching and Learning, the latest in the Wiley Handbooks in Education series drawn from interests groups of the American Educational Research Association.
— Mary Catherine Scheeler, associate professor of education (special education), was awarded the TED-Pearson Excellence in Teacher Education Award, given jointly through the Teacher Education Division (TED) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). Scheeler was presented the award at the CEC National Convention, held Jan. 29 to Feb. 2 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
