UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Students, staff and faculty members from Penn State's College of Education share recent research and career achievements.

·      Artemio Cardenas, a doctoral candidate in higher education, is lead author of a new article, “The business models employed by U.S. colleges & universities” in New Directions for Higher Education. John Cheslock, professor of education (higher education), is co-author.

·      John Cheslock, professor of education (higher education), is lead author of a newly published article, “Ever-Increasing Listed Tuition and Institutional Aid: The Role of Net Price Differentials by Year of Study” in Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis.

·      Ed Fuller, associate professor of education (educational leadership), is quoted in an article, “Report: More Pa. teachers hired under emergency permits than received formal certifications” by The Meadville Tribune. In addition, Fuller published a new report, A "Fuller" Look at Education Issues on his blog.

·      Brandy Henry, assistant professor of education (rehabilitation and human services), is co-author of a new paper, “Opioid use disorder cascade of care framework design: A roadmap” in Substance Abuse.

·      Kevin Kinser, professor of education (higher education) and head of the Department of Education Policy Studies, and senior scientist in the Center for the Study of Higher Education, is quoted in an article, “International students ‘less satisfied’ in branch campuses” in University World News.

·      Kimberly A. Lawless, dean of the College of Education, was featured in a recent episode of "Academic Dean: A Podcast for Today's College Leaders."

·      Maria Lewis, associate professor of education (educational leadership), co-wrote an article, “Legal Matters: September 2022” for the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). Her co-author is Gabriella Achampong, a junior at Penn State majoring in education and public policy, with a specific interest in equity and civil rights. 

·      Research by Paul Morgan, Harry & Marion Eberly Faculty Fellow and professor of education (educational theory and policy), is cited in an article, “Why Race Matters in Diagnosing and Treating ADHD” in Everyday Health.

·      Ashley Patterson, associate professor of education (curriculum and instruction), was one of the speakers at the Global Dignity Day event held Oct. 19 at the State College Borough Building. The theme of Patterson's talk was earning the respect of others by embracing their dignity. First observed in 2008, Global Dignity Day is a celebration of the belief that everyone deserves to live a life of dignity.
