Students, staff and faculty members from Penn State's College of Education share recent research and career achievements.
• Karly Ford, associate professor and research associate of education (higher education), is co-author of a new working paper, “Racial Category Usage in Education Research: Examining the Publications from AERA Journals.”
• Erica Frankenberg, professor of education (educational leadership and demography), is co-author of a paper, “Data Access and the Study of Educational Equity: Implications from a National School Boundary Data Collection Effort” in Education Finance & Policy. Sarah Asson, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Education Policy Studies (EPS), is lead author. Annie Maselli, another doctoral candidate in EPS, is a co-author.
• Kelly Rosinger, associate professor of education (education and public policy), is lead author of a new paper, “New Evidence on the Evolution and Landscape of Performance Funding for Higher Education” in The Journal of Higher Education. Rosinger also is lead author on an article, “State Higher Education Funding During COVID-19: Lessons From Prior Recessions and Implications for Equity” in AERA Open.
• LaWanda Ward, assistant professor of education (higher education) and research associate in the Center for the Study of Higher Education, was on the panel for the opening discussion of a conference on Sept. 5, “Crossing the Borders of Knowledge: 2022 Postgraduate Conference” at Rhodes University. The international panel led an interactive discussion on the responsibilities of postgraduates and other researchers to people and the planet and how we prevent the gatekeeping of knowledge to ensure it is transformative.
