UNVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Students, staff and faculty members from Penn State's College of Education share recent research and career achievements.

·      Brittany Aronson, associate professor of education (curriculum and instruction), is co-author of a new article, “Moving toward a Comprehensive Program of Critical Social Justice Teacher Education: A QuantCrit Analysis of Preservice Teachers’ Perceptions of Social Justice Education” in The Teacher Educator.

·      Aaron Campbell, assistant professor of education (special education), has been honored by the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness (SREE) with the Researchers of Color Mentored Travel Award.

·      Annie Everett and Muhammad Kara, doctoral students in higher education, are Project Members of InformEd States. InformEd States was co-founded by Kelly Rosinger, associate professor of education (education and public policy), and is a clearinghouse for policy analysis, original research, data, and rigorous evidence on the equity and effectiveness of state higher education funding policies. 

·      Ed Fuller, associate professor of education (educational leadership), is quoted in an article, “Shorter days, asking parents for help: What the ‘teacher shortage’ looks like in 4 Pennsylvania districts” by WHYY, a PBS/NPR affiliate in Philadelphia.

·      Paul L. Morgan, Harry and Marion Eberly Faculty Fellow and professor of education (educational theory and policy), is lead author of a new article, “Disparities in Family-Centered Care Among U.S. Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs” in The Journal of Pediatrics. Additionally, Morgan’s work examining the effects of student-teacher racial or ethnic matching, presented at the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness (SREE) 2022 Conference, is cited in an article, “PROOF POINTS: Black and white teachers from HBCUs are better math instructors, study finds” by The Hechinger Report.

·      Kelly Rosinger, associate professor of education (education and public policy), is lead author of a new paper, “Exploring the Impact of GRE-Accepting Admissions on Law School Diversity and Selectivity” in The Review of Higher Education. Karly Ford, associate professor and research associate of education (higher education), is a co-author.

·      Nancy Valverde, a third-year doctoral candidate in counselor education, and Mihee Woo, a first-year candidate in counselor education, are featured in an article in The Daily Collegian, “Centre County food resources discuss relation between food insecurity, mental health.” Valverde and Woo are graduate assistant supervisors for the Dr. Edwin L. Herr Clinic, which provides counseling services to Penn State students, State College Area School District students and members of the community.
