Wireless connectivity update
Penn State Information Technology made changes to the University's secure wireless networks "psu" and "eduroam" in May, and Apple, Windows and Linux wireless users returning to campus who haven't updated their settings since will need to do so in order to connect. The update can be found at wireless.psu.edu/update, along with device-specific instructions for how to complete the process. Penn State employees who do not manage their own devices must contact their local support staff who can make the update. Android devices do not require an update and Penn State's visitor network will not be affected by these changes.
International initiative seeks proposals
Penn State and the University of Freiburg in Germany are embarking on a novel initiative to pilot an online classroom project. The universities are seeking proposals to create collaborative, integrated virtual classroom courses. Selected proposals will be eligible for funding in the amount of 10,000 euros at the University of Freiburg and $12,000 at Penn State. The project also provides development and implementation money for faculty teams to construct an integrated virtual course, deliver a pilot program, and assess and modify the program operation for future virtual instruction improvement.
