Social Science Research Institute to host seminar on social disparities

The Penn State Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) will host another SSRI Seminar, noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, in 110 Henderson Building (Bennett Pierce Living Center). This is an in-person and virtual event featuring early career faculty from the Social Disparities cluster (co-funded by SSRI), Maithreyi Gopalan, assistant professor of education and public policy, and Alexis Santos, assistant professor of human development and family studies. Gopalan and Santos will provide an overview of their research on examining and mitigating social disparities in education and population health. Learn more here.

Registration open for Graduate Exhibition

Registration is now open for the 38th annual Graduate Exhibition, a public showcase of performances, innovative research and visual arts presented by Penn State's graduate students and hosted by the Graduate School. The exhibition will take place March 20-24 and will include musical and theatrical performances, research and design presentations, and art exhibitions. Registration for all exhibitors must be completed by 11:59 p.m. March 1. Register here.

Submissions being accepted for special journal edition

Submissions are being accepted for a Special Collection in International Journal of Qualitative Methods, "(No) Humans Involved”: On the Potentialities of Black Research Approaches in Education.” The guest editors for the Special Collection are Wilson Okello, assistant professor of education (higher education); DeMarcus Jenkins, assistant professor of education (educational leadership); and Tiffany M. Nyachae, assistant professor of education and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies. Manuscripts must be submitted by July 13. Learn more here.
