Penn State Board of Trustees election

The election process for the Penn State Board of Trustees started when nomination ballots were sent on Sunday, Jan. 15, to all Penn State alumni who have a valid email address on file with the University and have not opted out of Penn State communications. Nominations will be accepted through 5 p.m. Eastern on Friday, Feb. 25. Alumni who do not receive the nomination email may request a ballot here. Center for Human Evolution and Diversity sponsors student step competition

The Center for Human Evolution and Diversity in the College of the Liberal Arts, as part of its upcoming 2023 Darwin Day celebration, is sponsoring a student Step Challenge from Jan. 30 to Feb. 5. Registration is open through Jan. 28 for individuals or teams (limit of 10 members). Participants will be asked to fill out an initial demographic survey. From there, individuals can use their preferred fitness tracker or phone app to monitor their steps. Winners will be announced at the 2023 Darwin Day Lecture from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22 in the HUB-Robeson Center Freeman Auditorium. Professional learning program on Holocaust offered to teachers

The Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Education Initiative at Penn State will lead "Making Holocaust and Genocide Education Relevant Through Inquiry and Classroom Application," a professional learning program for teachers made possible through a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The program will convene 30 teachers from across the United States to participate in a paid professional learning experience in Pennsylvania in summer 2023 and online through fall 2023. Teachers will gather to study the Holocaust, make connections to other genocides and human rights topics, and plan for inquiry-based classroom instruction of the Holocaust or another difficult topic. Send inquiries to HolocaustEdInitiative@psu.edu. The Arboretum at Penn State offering paid summer internships

The Arboretum at Penn State is offering paid 14-week internships in the summer of 2023. Internships include opportunities in horticulture, plant records, children’s education and avian education. Internships feature extensive educational components including both on-campus and off-site field trips. All positions pay $14/hour and have negotiable start and end dates.
