McLaughlin serves as the staff assistant for the Workforce Education and Development (WFED), Learning Design and Technology (LDT), and Lifelong Learning and Adult Education (LLAED) programs in the Learning and Performance Systems (LPS) department. In this role, she is the main point-of-contact for the residential master’s and doctoral degree students in these three programs. Her specific responsibilities include coordinating the admissions process for doctoral and master’s students, scheduling doctoral exams, course enrollments, updating adviser and milestone information in LionPATH, and monitoring student major requirements for graduation tracking, including SARI with the Office of Research Protections. McLaughlin also enters and tracks student data and collects and reviews student applications for the Summer Tuition Assistance Program (STAP) and graduate assistantships. She serves as a liaison with the Office of Global Programs regarding international student status, the Office of Graduate Enrollment Services/Thesis Office and Penn State World Campus. In addition to her regular duties as staff assistant, McLaughlin also assists with the promotion and tenure faculty review process in the department.
