Kim studies teacher learning of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) that contributes to the creation of equitable learning environments. In her current National Science Foundation (NSF) project with early childhood preservice teachers, she researches transformative ways of valuing diverse approaches to robot programming, through the lens of epistemological pluralism. She is currently involved with two other NSF projects that also involve transformative design and research, but in distinctive ways, for educational equity through teacher learning. Kim is a former early grades special education teacher with two national awards for programing interactive mathematics learning software.
