Benedek-Wood teaches courses that focus on evidence-based instruction as well as inclusive practices for supporting students with special needs in general education classrooms. Her research interests include early literacy instruction, literacy strategies across content area classrooms, inclusion and teacher preparation. Before earning her doctorate, Benedek-Wood was an elementary special education teacher who worked with students with a wide range of disabilities in both special education and general education classrooms.
