Parides chosen as College of Education student marshal

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Eireni Parides has been selected as the Penn State College of Education's student marshal for the fall 2023 commencement ceremony.

Parides, a State College Area High School alumna, is graduating from Penn State with a 3.98 GPA. She will receive a bachelor of science degree in elementary and early childhood education with minors in special education and early development and education. She has been on the dean’s list every semester during her college career.

Parides student taught at Easterly Parkway Elementary School as part of her high school’s early childhood program. She is currently student teaching at Port Matilda Elementary School and said her student teaching experience has been very rewarding, and that she has enjoyed seeing how much students can learn and grow throughout the school year.

After graduation, Parides hopes to obtain a teaching position at an elementary school in the State College area and is interested in pursuing a master’s degree in the future.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the College of Education student marshal,” she said. “It means a lot to me because it recognizes the hard work and dedication I invested in my academic journey. I am grateful for my friends, family, professors and mentors who helped me reach my goal of becoming a teacher. I am excited to represent the college and celebrate this achievement alongside my fellow students.”

Parides is the daughter of George and Wendy Parides, of Port Matilda, Pennsylvania.

The commencement ceremony for those receiving baccalaureate and associate degrees from the College of Education is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.

The commencement ceremony for those receiving master’s and doctoral degrees is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 16, also at the Jordan Center.
