UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey steering committee is actively planning next steps in the survey response process. The COACHE survey was administered in spring 2025 to eligible faculty, closing the week of April 7, and received an impressive raw response rate of 47%. The committee will receive the survey results in fall 2025 and is currently preparing to take the next steps.
“On behalf of the tri-chairs and the steering committee, we want to thank all the faculty members who completed the survey,” said Tracy Langkilde, interim executive vice president and provost. “We are inspired by the participation and encourage faculty to continue to engage in the second year of the process as we review the results.”
The committee is now looking for faculty and administrators willing to participate in reviewing survey results and prioritizing areas for action. As part of this year two process, the standing committee will be reconstituted, and one or more subcommittees will be established. Deans and chancellors will be asked to establish unit-level subcommittees.
Faculty and administrators who are interested in participating, at either the University or the unit level, in this initiative are invited to express their interest by completing the COACHE Data Review and Action Planning Committees Interest Form by Sept. 5. The focus of year two will be on evaluating findings, disseminating results to the University community and prioritizing initiatives. Year three of the engagement with COACHE includes acting on priorities, implementing recommendations and tracking progress.
“The work we will accomplish during years two and three is critical to the success of COACHE and we would love for more faculty members to get involved,” said Josh Wede, chair of the University Faculty Senate. “Additional input from faculty will help us identify areas of strength and concern and establish actionable priorities to improve workplace conditions across Penn State.”
Committees will be formed beginning this summer and throughout the fall. The COACHE steering committee will reach out to interested individuals on a rolling basis.
