UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Sixteen Penn State faculty were named leaders for AI-Aware Instruction by the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence.

The faculty-driven program, new this year, is designed to cultivate cultures of experimentation and exploration of artificial intelligence-aware instructional work at the scale of departments, colleges and campuses. The 16 leaders, representing different areas of the University, will implement AI-aware instructional projects in their units and advance teaching excellence in the age of artificial intelligence by identifying emerging needs in their local teaching communities, developing resources and sharing insights with other faculty leaders in this program. This work supplements the ongoing development of University-wide resources and existing experiments by individual faculty across Penn State.

Proposed projects include creating a resource guide and convening an industry panel, developing a local resource repository or assignment hub, and launching an AI Teaching Lab or hands-on learning opportunities for instructors.

Faculty leaders for AI-Aware Instruction will share their insights more broadly with the Penn State teaching community at a larger event in the spring semester.
