UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — New id+ cards will be distributed to University Park faculty and staff beginning March 20 through the end of April. The cards will be distributed to the home address of each cardholder via USPS mail.

Employees working in non-campus locations will also receive new id+ cards through this process.

Upon receipt, cardholders will need to activate the new id+ card through id.psu.edu/activate. Old cards must be destroyed. Discarded cards also can be dropped off at the id+ Office or mailed to 20 HUB-Robeson Center, University Park, PA 16802.

The mailing of physical id+ cards will help complete a University-wide re-carding process that began in fall 2022.

The new id+ card advances the University’s digital campus initiative in support of One Penn State 2025. The new campus card displays an updated design and new contactless features that create a user-friendly digital experience for the Penn State community.

Enhanced features of the new campus card align with modern-day usage and payment trends, allowing for faster, more secure transactions using Penn State meal plans, LionCash and door access. Cardholders will be able to use the cards on campus and at businesses where accepted. Penn State will continue to install new card readers with contactless features across the commonwealth. Readers with the same contactless symbol shown on the back of the new id+ card will provide contactless payments and access.

Following the spring semester, only the updated version of the id+ card will be accepted on campus.

New id+ cards not activated by Aug. 2 will be decommissioned. A re-carding fee will be assessed for new id+ cards requested outside of the re-carding process.
