The 32nd annual Women’s Day will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus’ Maggie Hardy Magerko Auditorium.
Celebrating Women 2013 will feature keynote speaker LaDonna Gatlin, who reaches out to others through storytelling and song. Born into a family of entertainers, Gatlin has spent her career empowering people to “sing their own song” through their words, their deeds and their actions.
This year’s Women’s Day workshops include “Protecting Yourself and Your Identity,” presented by Pennsylvania Trooper Stefani A. Plume; “The Past, the Present and (maybe) the Future,” presented by Dave Meredith, associate professor of engineering at Penn State Fayette; and “Value Added Ventures for Women,” presented by Susan Lynn of Greendance Winery at Sand Hill.
More than 40 local agencies and businesses will take part in the Community Service and Informational Fair. Women’s Day participants can gather information about services and volunteer opportunities from the participating organizations.
Registration for Women’s Day is required and participation is limited. Registration by May 10 is $20; after May 10 it is $25. The fee includes workshops, morning refreshments, the information agency fair, Chinese auction, luncheon and Gatlin's presentation. For more information or to register, call 724-430-4144.
