Updated Procurement Search Tool to simplify sourcing of goods and services

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Office of Central Procurement has released enhancements to its Procurement Search Tool, making it easier for authorized Penn State shoppers to find goods and services, general ledgers, category codes, allowable purchasing methods, or connect with an expert buyer. The tool originally launched in November 2022.

Duane Elmore, the University’s chief procurement officer, said Central Procurement is excited to implement additional user enhancements in support of the Strategic Procurement Transformation.

“Sourcing answers are at shopper’s fingertips,” Elmore said. “The new tool combines multiple outdated manual resources into a one-stop shop. The Procurement Search Tool is easy to navigate and identifies the best sourcing and payment options. Users can find what they need with a keyword search.”

Penn State users are encouraged to log in to the Procurement Search Tool to watch a training video, explore available contracts, and locate goods and services aligned with eight new product categories:

  • Administrative Supplies and Marketing
  • Facilities and Fleet
  • Food and Beverage
  • IT Hardware
  • IT Software
  • Professional Services
  • Scientific and Research
  • Travel and Hospitality

Additional features also allow users to learn about sourcing goods and services, save frequent views as a favorite, and rate their experience. For more information, visit procurement.psu.edu.
