UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Global has announced Faculty and Staff Travel Awards for 2024. These awards are given on a rolling basis and are meant to support faculty and staff travel related to developing or expanding collaboration with select Penn State global partner universities and organizations. These are current or developing strategic partnerships with multi-disciplinary and university-wide engagement across education, research, and outreach.

The activities supported by the awards may include (1) travel for research, teaching, meetings, a conference, or other purposes at a current partner institution abroad, or (2) a side trip to a Penn State partner university as part of an already planned trip in the same city or nearby location for purposes such as attending a conference, workshop or other research/teaching engagement. In the case of (2), the award would cover only the expenses for the additional transportation and days spent at the partner institution.

Awards provide up to $2,500 with evidence of other funds contributing to cover travel expenses from the academic department, college, faculty member’s research funds, staff member’s office or unit, or other sources. The awards will be provided via a transfer to the awardee’s academic department or office to be used for travel expenses.

While this program is intended for travel to eligible partner universities, proposals will be considered for collaborating with universities or organizations in Africa or Latin America and the Caribbean that are not on the preapproved list, if they include the development of multi-disciplinary or multi-program engagement from Penn State faculty/staff.

A list of eligible partner universities can be found in InfoReady.

Applicants must be Penn State faculty or staff who are interested in expanding collaborations with current and emerging partner universities/organizations of strategic university-wide importance for Penn State. A Global Partnership Strategy for Penn State is in development and will ultimately determine the final composition of the list of eligible institutions/organizations.

All application materials must be received electronically via the InfoReady portal at least six weeks before the proposed travel departure date.
