Graduate School event to showcase and support healthy academic boundaries

UNIVERSITY PARK Pa. — Graduate students interested in learning about how to set healthy academic boundaries are invited to attend "Cultivating Healthy Academic Relationships and Boundaries," an upcoming event held by the Penn State Graduate School at 6 p.m. on Sept. 27. Interested students can register for the event here.

During this program, students will have the opportunity to learn to explore the paramount significance of setting healthy boundaries in their academic journey. They will also be able to learn to equip themselves with the skills to navigate the intricacies of graduate school, recognize signs of unhealthy boundaries, and acquire practical tools for maintaining a well-balanced and fulfilling student life.

The event, led by Jacqueline Jones, associate director of graduate student life and well-being, will aim to define what boundaries are for the students, show examples of boundaries in work and personal life, and provide opportunities for participants to put new knowledge to practice.

“Understanding the art of establishing healthy boundaries can significantly impact your ability to handle challenging situations,” Jones said. “Creating that crucial space for reflection and thoughtful responses can lead to more positive outcomes.”

The free event will take place Sept. 27 from 6-7 p.m. in 111 Bouke Building on the University Park campus.
