Graduate students invited to fireside chat and networking reception Oct. 6

All graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and fellows encouraged to attend event with alumni

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Office of Graduate Student Affairs together with the Graduate School Alumni Society invites all graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and fellows to attend this professional development event from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, in Robb Hall at the Hintz Family Alumni Center.

Networking, mentorship and sponsorship are cited by everyone from university career counseling centers to companies like J.P. Morgan Chase and a wide variety of professional societies as being key ways to optimize one's chances for career success. These terms share some key components but have important distinctions. When combined, they can be powerful tools to accelerate your career and professional development.

Join this conversation with Penn State alumni to explore the various facets of networking, mentorship, and sponsorship. Hear how alumni have leveraged these tools for success in their career journeys. Attendees will learn how to build their own unique networking skills and find mentors and sponsors to help realize career aspirations.

Immediately following the fireside chat, all students are invited to attend a networking reception. Complimentary refreshments will be served and the event will also be livestreamed for graduate students across the commonwealth.

Registration deadline for this event is Oct. 3. Full event details can be found at careerworkshop.psu.edu.
