Introduction to Microsoft Project Workshop

Join Penn State Great Valley for an introduction to project management tools and discover how to effectively implement and successfully execute a project from initiation through closeout. This foundational class will teach the basic skills to create and manage a project schedule using Microsoft Project. Participants will learn to use the tools and functionality of this program to effectively control a project and resources.

Topics include:

  • Setting standards for projects.
  • Creating effective timelines.
  • Reporting and escalating issues.
  • Identifying critical paths.
  • Adding and deleting tasks.
  • Capturing scope and requirements.
  • Focusing on changing timescales.

This hands-on workshop is ideal for those looking to familiarize themselves with Microsoft Project, or who already have working knowledge of the program.

The workshop is led by Kyle Wills, director of program management at Embody Inc. Wills also teaches the Project Scheduling and Integration course in Great Valley's project management certificate program. His subject-matter expertise falls between the intersection of project/portfolio/PMO management and product development, which helps identify and guide promising products through all phases of development using best project management practices.

All attendees will have access to Microsoft Project on Penn State Great Valley computers. Attendees are welcome to bring a work-related project to explore during the workshop.

Cost: $425 ($25 discount if registered by May 18).
