Penn State McKeesport has received a $75,000 grant from the United States Steel Foundation for its new Student Community Center. The gift will help fund an upper level concourse named for U.S. Steel in the $5.5 million, 25,000-square-foot facility. The building features a wireless environment, dining facilities, offices, meeting rooms and lounges, as well as a bookstore, health center, radio station and game room. According to Curtiss E. Porter, campus executive officer, "The company and the campus have roots in this region and we have a history of workforce development partnerships. The campus provides continuing education programs to U.S. Steel employees and the company provides internship experiences for our students."
