Harrisburg track and field athletes capture conference titles

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — At the 2024 United East Outdoor Championships May 5, Penn State Harrisburg track and field athletes captured four conference championships: three on the men's side and one for the women.

The men were led by conference champions Paul Netland, Tony Pelino and Isaac Whitson, while Makayla Grace Weber won a conference title on the women's side.

Netland set a new personal record (PR) in the 110-meter hurdles, and his time of 15.31 seconds earned him gold in the event, while ranking second all-time in program history.

Pelino matched his career-best mark of 4.35 meters in the pole vault to secure the conference title.

Whitson improved upon his previous PR in the triple jump, with his jump of 13.34 meters ranking second all-time in program history and securing conference gold in the event.

For their efforts, all three athletes also earned United East All-Conference First-Team honors.

Weber set a new PR of 1:07.72 in the 400-meter hurdles to capture gold in the event, rank second all-time in program history, and earn all-conference first-team recognition. She also took silver in the 100m hurdles and secured second-team all-conference honors in the event. 

In total, Penn State Harrisburg athletes earned 11 all-conference honors.
