Penn State Harrisburg to hold fall 2021 commencement, Dec. 18

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg will hold its fall 2021 commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. More than 760 degrees will be conferred at the ceremony.

In addition to celebrating the class of 2021, the college is honored to welcome back members of the class of 2020 to celebrate their achievements as Penn Staters.

Michael Sullivan, a retired senior executive with Pepco Holdings (now part of Exelon) in Washington, D.C. will deliver the keynote address at the ceremony.

Sullivan was responsible for engineering, operations, maintenance, construction, and customer service for Pepco Holdings’ three electric and gas utilities: Atlantic City Electric, Delmarva Power, and Potomac Electric Power Co (Pepco). Since retiring, Sullivan has worked as an independent management consultant and most recently with PA Consulting (a UK based consulting firm). He advises the energy and investment communities in a broad range of energy-related areas including renewable energy, grid resiliency, predictive analytics, emergency management and power grid automation.

Sullivan earned an associate degree from Penn State Wilkes-Barre, a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering technology from Penn State Harrisburg, a master of business administration from Marymount University, and a professional engineering license in Washington, D.C.

In 2016, Sullivan was named an Alumni Achievement Award winner for Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering, and Technology. He currently serves on several boards including The Better Business Bureau, the Industrial and Technical Advisory Board at Penn State Harrisburg and the Utility Customer Research Council. He and his wife, Laura, have three grown children and live in Annapolis, Maryland.
