MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Penn State Harrisburg welcomed more than 1,050 first-year students to campus at the recent New Student Convocation, marking the largest incoming class in the campus' 50-year history.

“We have experienced tremendous growth at Penn State Harrisburg and we are pleased to now welcome our largest freshman class,” Chancellor Mukund Kulkarni said. “This new class of students represents 25 states, 24 countries and 90 academic majors and joins a student body of nearly 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students. I am excited for the contributions that these new students will bring to the Penn State Harrisburg community.”

New Student Convocation is the first academic event of the new school year and serves as the ceremonial start for all new students.

The event also served as the kickoff for Penn State Harrisburg’s 50th anniversary celebration. The campus will commemorate this significant milestone with more than 50 different events throughout the academic year, including the feature event, “We Are Weekend.” For more details, visit https://harrisburg.psu.edu/50th-anniversary
