Yubraj Acharya, assistant professor of health policy and administration, is recipient of the Early Career Faculty Award. Presented by Penn State Global, the award recognizes innovative international research projects, excellence in global scholarship, or curricular and experiential leadership surrounding global learning for a tenure-earning faculty member at Penn State.

“None of what I do would be possible without the help of my research collaborators in other countries and numerous faculty members and staff at Penn State, particularly those in the Department of Health Policy and Administration and the Population Research Institute,” said Acharya.

For Acharya, the award inspires him to influence others and continue expanding his career including exposing students to health policy issues in low-income countries and to not be deterred by the logistical challenges and uncertainties involved in conducting international research.

In addition, Acharya credits Penn State colleagues for the award. “I particularly would like to thank Nancy Luke in Department of Sociology and Christopher Hollenbeak, professor and head in the Department of Health Policy and Administration for their mentorship and guidance these past five years. I am inspired by the enthusiasm of our undergraduate and doctoral students to do global health work. And for everything I do, my special thanks to Supriya, June and Yuna at home.”

Acharya joined the Department of Health Policy and Administration at Penn State in 2017. Prior to his appointment, Acharya completed his doctoral degree at University of Michigan, Health Services Organization and Policy Program.
