Penn State Health’s Center for Learning and Leadership Development won first place in the “Best First-Time Manager Program” category of the annual Leadership Excellence and Development awards. The winners accepted their award at the LEAD2019 conference March 5 to 8 in Salt Lake City, Utah. HR.com, a social networking site for human resources professionals, sponsored the event.
The Human Resources Learning and Leadership Team’s Emerging Leaders Development Program won the honor. The 11-month program is designed for Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine employees who aspire to higher levels. Participants do not have formal direct reports, but they take on informal leadership responsibilities through leadership and mentoring opportunities.
“I’m super proud of our team for their innovation in developing these programs and our participants for making the commitment,” said Michelle Duncan, director of the Human Resources Center for Learning and Leadership Development. “It’s an honor to be recognized in the global industry and by HR.com for our Emerging Leaders program in a forum dedicated to helping organizations create an innovative, high-potential and passionate workforce.”
About 250 leaders are enrolled in Penn State Health’s 2019 leadership programs and will graduate in January 2020.
