Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center presented three Guardian Angel awards to Cancer Center staff recognized by patients and family members for exhibiting kindness and exceptional care.
Among the recipients at the March 18 ceremony was the Infusion Services team. One donor said the nurses provided their loved one with “amazing compassion, patience, care and truly wonderful bedside manner."
”The nurses work so well together,” said another donor. “They all get to know the patients and treat you with compassion. They truly are a remarkable team.”
Lisa Spencer, a breast care patient navigator, and Ashleigh Plank, a pre-certification associate, also earned the Guardian Angel award.
The patient who nominated her described Spencer as “always helpful when I have questions or need help. She is always respectful and compassionate. She truly makes patients feel important.”
”She looks out for me,” said Plank’s nominator, “coming to visit when I am in the infusion room. She makes me feel like I am a part of the Cancer Center family. What a blessing she is to me.”
St. Joseph Medical Center honors each Guardian Angel with a ceremony and pin. The person who submits the recognition often makes a donation to the Medical Center’s foundation benefiting medical equipment, technology and services.
