“OER (open educational resources) is about more than student savings — it is about student success and lifelong learning. It is about faculty empowerment and increased student engagement. It is about equity and diversity. … This is an opportunity for collaboration across the institution, from faculty to instructional designers to librarians to assessment professionals.”
—Anne C. Osterman, director of the Virtual Library of Virginia, delivered the keynote address at the inaugural Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium Inc. OER Summit, held Aug. 9 at Penn State's University Park campus. Sixty-two higher education institutions across the commonwealth were represented at the summit, which was co-hosted by Penn State and Affordable Learning Pennsylvania.
