UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — WPSU will air interviews on May 9 and 14 with Marc Friedenberg and Fred Keller — the candidates running in a special election to fill the vacated U.S. House seat for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.
The interviews will air at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, on WPSU-FM and at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, on WPSU-TV. The candidates will discuss several topics, including health care, broadband access, Social Security, taxes and the opioid epidemic.
Friedenberg, the Democratic candidate and an assistant teaching professor for Penn State’s College of Information Sciences and Technology, and Keller, a Republican who serves in the state’s House of Representatives, are competing to fill former Rep. Tom Marino’s vacated seat.
The special election will be held May 21 and is open to all registered voters.
The 12th Congressional District is located in central and northern Pennsylvania and includes portions of Bradford, Centre, Clinton, Juniata, Lycoming, Mifflin, Northumberland, Perry, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union and Wyoming counties.
WPSU-FM serves more than 450,000 listeners in 13 northern and central Pennsylvania counties and can be heard on 90.1 (northern Pennsylvania), 91.5 (central Pennsylvania), 92.1 (DuBois), 100.9 (Bradford), 102.5 (Huntingdon), 104.7 (Clearfield) and 106.7 (Altoona). WPSU-TV reaches 515,000 households in 24 counties, and viewers can watch via channel 3 or through their cable or satellite provider.
