UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- In an event that’s sure to be a home run, Penn State’s student-run food pantry and baseball team are joining forces to fight food insecurity at the team's April 24 game against Bucknell University.

The Lion’s Pantry, which provides assistance to students struggling with food insecurity, will be accepting donations of all canned and boxed non-perishable goods alongside any non-expired perishable goods. These donations will directly support the pantry’s mission of helping ensure every Penn Stater doesn’t have to worry about the source of their next meal.

“Nationwide statistics show that hunger is a growing concern for college-aged adults, and we are always working hard to fight food insecurity,” said Evan Finklestein, a senior who works with the pantry.

Student tickets for the game, which will be held at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, are $5 and include an all-you-can-eat buffet. A pregame reception featuring local musical act Lowjack begins at 5:30 p.m., with the game set to start at 6:30 p.m.
