New Global Connections director begins job

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Global Connections has a new executive director, Marc McCann, who began his job April 21.

Global Connections is a nonprofit affiliated with Penn State and the Centre County United Way, and for more than 50 years has fostered intercultural community and understanding in Centre County.

McCann previously worked at Arrow Child & Family Ministries, where he oversaw the State College office and worked as program director and on fundraising initiatives. He had previously worked as a high school social studies teacher in northeast Maryland as well as in early intervention and community-based programming benefiting children, youth and families. He earned a master's degree in American history from Penn State in 1994, and has taught classes in Penn State's Human Development and Family Studies, and Kinesiology departments. He lives in State College with his wife, Denise, and three sons: Conor, Alex and Aidan.

McCann replaces Merrill David, who announced her resignation in March after 10 years of service.
