Pennsylvania U.S. House candidates vying for party nominations to speak to WPSU

Candidate interviews will air on ‘Morning Edition’ on WPSU-FM and will be available at wpsu.org

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Candidates seeking to secure their parties’ nominations for Pennsylvania U.S. congressional races will speak to WPSU-FM reporters and have their interviews air during “Morning Edition” on WPSU-FM throughout April and May. The interviews will air at 5:50 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. on WPSU-FM and will be available the same day of airing on wpsu.org/radio.

Pennsylvania’s primary election for the 2018 midterms will be held on May 15, and WPSU will interview candidates from the 12th, 13th and 15th congressional districts. The new Pennsylvania congressional map was released by the state’s Supreme Court in February.

Confirmed candidate interviews include:

15th District

  • Susan Boser (D) – April 12
  • Wade Jodun (D) – April 13

12th District

  • Marc Friedenberg (D) – April 16
  • Judy Herschel (D) – April 17
  • Douglas McLinko (R) – April 18

13th District

  • John Eichelberger (R) – April 23
  • Art Halvorson (R) – April 24
  • Benjamin Hornberger (R) – April 25
  • John Joyce (R) – April 26
  • Bernard (Bernie) Washabaugh (R) – May 1
  • Doug Mastriano (R) – May 3

Interviews with Republican candidates Travis Schooley and Steve Bloom, both from the 13th District, and Tom Marino (PA-12) are currently being scheduled. Republican Glenn Thompson (PA-15) and Democrat Brent Ottaway (PA-13) are both running unopposed in their respective primaries and were not invited for interviews. 

April 16 is the last day to register to vote before the primary elections.
